Cop cruisers seized in slay probe Oren Yaniv with News Wire Services
The investigation into the killing of a homeless immigrant in Westchester County took a bizarre turn when two police cars were impounded as part of the case, authorities said yesterday.
This article is compact and to the point but leaves too many questions unanswered. The article focuses on an ongoing investigation and can’t give too many details. It kept on point and precise and left other questions arise from the investigation without explanation or answers. The article has too many holes, very little or no investigation done. The many things it could have worked on were the police cruisers, the other two murder victims and the police officers who responded to the victims call.
The article needed to give more information on the fact that Perez is the third Guatemalan immigrant to have died in Mount Kisco under similar circumstances since 2004. What was the outcome of the two previous homicides and what details can’t be given to fill this article.
The article does not give details about the other two homicides as they are some how touch on as part of or referenced to this murder. It does apply the where, when, how, what and asks the why but little is know about the cruisers and who will check them out.
I think the investigation on the cruisers should have gone more in depth and all the w’s and h asked on the cars. There is the focus of the article to stay with the murder of Mr. Perez. The investigation of the officers involves should of also being divulge about. If their cars are being impounded what is happening to the officers. The reader is left with too many questions about the circumstances around the article.
New York Daily News Deadbeat ex-judge gets break in court
By Nancie L. Katz Monday, May 7th 2007
Manhattan judge dropped her arrest warrant last week against a deadbeat dad who owes $250,000 in child support because the father - a former judge himself - said he was poor and depressed.
This article is a news and opinion piece from the writer. The article tells of a dead beat dad who is getting away from paying his child support and a poor woman who owed 50 times less who couldn’t.
The article claims and reports that Justice Joan Lobis' decision was base on Reynold Mason being a former judge and not on the justice system. Writer Nancie Katz takes great quotes from Abrams Mason former wife claiming there’s no justice. As she and her three children are facing an eviction notice form their Long Island home.
The Daily News investigated the causes of Mason so call depression. He is now a real estate agent in Georgia who also has declared bankruptcy. The news article should have explained New York’s child support laws and how they are implemented. Also explain on how the child support amount does change when the salary of the parent changes.
The article should of researched the claims that Mason is depressed with supporting evidence of any medical doctor or medication being taken. If Katz was to question Mason’s depression more information about it should of being uncovered.
